2-page version of this ancient melody. Lilting and mesmerizing. In 6/8 time, there are three 3/8 measures that transition from one verse to another. No tricky rhythms, one section has moving sixteenth notes in right hand. Bass line is dotted quarter notes for most of the song, with one area of arpeggiated chords.

This is an arrangement of three popular Christmas carols, “Good King Wenceslas”, “Silent Night” and “Away in a Manger”. The music has been notated for both lever and pedal harp. Lever changes are indicated by diamond-shaped notes written in the lower staff since they are executed with the left hand. Some fingering is suggested. This medley is intended to be accessible to beginners without months of preparation and without sounding overly simplistic.

For tenor, harp and cello - this very beautiful melody is from an old Lutheran hymnal published by Augsburg Press. We can find no information on the composer, only knowing this hymn dates back to 1890. The melody is elegant in its diatonic simplicity. The cello part is not difficult, consisting mainly of quarter notes. For all harps, pedal or lever, lower intermediate.

Masumi Nagasawa teaches harp at the Maastricht Conservatory. In addition, she teaches at the music school in The Hague. She studied at the Maastricht Conservatory with the renowned harpist Phia Berghout, she followed her studies historical harp with Mara Galassi. She plays the modern concert harp, the single pedal harp, Irish harp and traditional Japanese harp (the KUGO). She won several prestigious awards and performed in many major theaters and was a guest at many international festivals at home and abroad.

This book contains a collection of Christmas songs, arranged by Masumi Nagasawa. Of all the pieces a simple and an advanced version is available. This is the newest book in the "Tunes with a Twist" series. The “twist” is the jazzy approach in the arrangements of these tunes that we usually hear with traditional chords and rhythms. The arrangements in this book are for lever harp, but can be played just as easily on pedal harp or piano. A Welsh Carol tune 'New years Eve - Deck the Halls'

A medley of three carols arranged for harp with violin or flute. With a separate part for flute or violin. It came upon the midnight clear (Richard S. Willis) is followed by Coventry Carol and The Rocking Lullaby.

Frequently sung in May in praise of the Virgin Mary, this French tune also lends itself well to the Christmas theme, and here it is arranged in three parts for lever or pedal harps. 3 pgs.

The music, written for alto voice, is soothing and evocative at the same time. The harp parts are easy to intermediate, requiring a full range lever harp with levers on F, C, G, D, and A. The accompaniments beautifully underlie and support both the melody and the words. A performance of this work would be a unique way to celebrate the holy days of December. The Companion CD will assist harp players learning the pieces in these books. Since many of you will want to "play along" as you are learning, Sylvia has recorded most of the pieces slower than they are usually played, and as "straight" as possible, with little or no expression or rhythmic variations. 

In the books each piece has two arrangements: (A) an easy version, and (B) one that is more difficult. On these recordings Sylvia plays the "B" versions. Since the two versions can be played as a duet, you can play either version along with the recording. The pieces are in the same order as in the books, with the Christmas pieces first, and then the Chanukah ones.
