For harp, flute, and cello, these arrangements are very playable and have a nice interplay among the instruments. The harp parts are intermediate, the cello and flute parts are nicely moving creating pleasant texture. Very enjoyable. Be Thou My Vision, Indian Lullaby, Starla’s Journey, Song of the Angels, The Ash Grove, The Lord is My Shepherd. |

The titles in this collection are: March Madness, Dunfermline, Pink Peonies, Skye Boat Song and Tell Me Why. March Madness is in 7/8. It’s not hard, but you have to count it. It’s really very clever - if you’re going to sight read this one, please make sure all of your musicians are expert counters. Fortunately we were playing this through in the shop and were almost on the floor laughing because apparently we are all 7/8 challenged here. Dunfermline and Pink Peonies are lovely originals, Tell Me Why is a parlor type folk song reminiscent of Stephen Foster. Melodies. The Skye Boat Song arrangement has nice play among the instruments. The cello certainly adds so much to these arrangements. The instruments go back and forth with melody and harmony. |

This is a beautiful and compelling duet for lever harp and melody instrument. A pedal harp version is also available. The melody parts are edited for dynamics, but not phrasing. This is a mature performance piece, so your soloist will easily be able to interpret their own phrasing. Ms. Cater has a You Tube of her duo, Rosewynde, performing the Caccini at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iPrGPG-MMs - it is very artistic and well worth your time to visit and listen, and look at the beautiful pictures. The harp part is 6 pages in length and spiral bound. The melody part is a separate pullout page. A beautiful piece to play in church settings, this evocative melody, believed to be written in the late 1500's, is not familiar as an Ave Maria, thus can be used for all occasions. The lever harp version remains in the same keys all the way through,
while the pedal harp version, starting in B Flat, modulates to C at m. 41.
The melody parts to go with the lever harp score also remain in one
key.

||
|
This album is written for beginners who wish to play together The melodies can be played on recorder, flute, clarinet-Bb and violin. The accompaniment is written for the non-pedal harp. It is up to the performers to decide whether a melody suitable for the instrument they play. With so many different instruments it is not easy to satisfy them all the time. |

An unusual trio of this beautiful hymn by William M. Runyan, who wrote the melody for the words which first appeared in 1956 Baptist Hymnal: Kathryn Cater has brought the tempo down, and put the meter in 9. In the style of Debussy, it is very moving and impressive. The arrangement is simply outstanding. This arrangement contains both a pedal and lever arrangement, both upper intermediate, with accidentals. The trio instrumentation is: harp, flute and violin. There is a clarinet part included which can substitute for the violin part. The harp parts are bound in plastic spiral, the other instrumental parts are pull-out.

For flute and harp, this beautiful composition was written to honor a friend. It is intermediate level in the key of D in 4/4 time. Majestic sounding and at the same time contemplative. The harp starts with whole note chords, moving to half notes, and then a good blend of rhythmic variance to the end. The flute part is a beautiful compliment to the harp, both parts interweaving melody and harmony. There are no accidentals, and the lowest note in the harp part is low D. 4 pgs. |

DeBrita has a knack for writing great flute and harp duets. This score is five pages in length. It is intermediate in difficulty, and has 2 G# to G natural accidentals. One change could be tricky on the lever harp but can be modified. Other than that, very playable on lever harp. Lowest note is E almost 2 octaves below middle C. Beginning and ending with rolling 16th note triplets, that portion of the piece requires the ability to play very evenly. The middle section is mainly eighth note patterns in the left hand with a combination of durations in the right hand. The flute part contains quite a few whole notes interspersed with a lovely melody. The piece is in 4/4 with one measure in 2/4, key of C. Flute/Harp duet , Intermediate, All Harps. |

For tenor, harp and cello - this very beautiful melody is from an old Lutheran hymnal published by Augsburg Press. We can find no information on the composer, only knowing this hymn dates back to 1890. The melody is elegant in its diatonic simplicity. The cello part is not difficult, consisting mainly of quarter notes. For all harps, pedal or lever, lower intermediate. |

This collection of 24 harp tunes has been arranged by Alison Kinnaird in a style which is not an antiquarian attempt to recreate the music as it might have sounded 200 years ago, but which reflects the living tradition of Scottish music. This book will be of interest to players who are already familiar with their native idiom; to the classically trained musician who wishes to learn about it; and to the general reader for whom the extensive historical notes may throw light on a little known but beautiful facet of Scottish history. 94 pages.

These arrangements of traditional Celtic tunes are well thought out, tried and true performance material, with interesting harmonies, countermelodies and rhythms. They can be played on harp or piano, with 2 C instruments. The hammered dulcimer part generally plays the melody, the harp the accompaniment and melody, and flute the melody and countermelody. Because the music is so diverse in both style and type, the harp parts range from easy to advanced level. Here is a duet for Harp and Flute with lots of syncopation. Playable on lever or pedal harp, this duet, with the A's and B's going back and forth from natural to flat, would be easier to play on a pedal harp, though both lever and pedal changes are indicated. The harp score is 9 pages in length, the flute part is 2 full pages. Laid back and energetic at the same time, this duet can be used for background music or recitals. |

By Meg Robinson - here is a "solo-ette" - it can be played as a harp solo, and it also has a lovely flute part to play with a friend! In a lilting 6/8 meter and in the key of Eb, it is not difficult. There are a few open 5ths, but not majorly large chords. The RH keeps moving with eighths, dotted eighths followed by 16ths, and a few quarter notes. There are no accidentals. A very uplifting melody that will be useful all year round! See the samples and also hear the mp3 file (real flute and harp, not electronic). Although not a Christmas piece - this is uplifting and joyful and makes a nice Christmas selection, so I have put it in the Christmas category as well as the general category.

This book contains twelve of the most lever-harp-friendly pieces from the three books of Dowland’s Songs & Ayres originally transcribed for voice and lute. The harp arrangements in this book, which are intermediate to advanced level with several lever changes in most of the pieces, were transcribed from the original lute tablature. Verlene has also added introductions, interludes and endings that incorporate the melody and accompaniment on solo harp. Words to all verses are given so that the melodies can be sung by the harpist or another singer, or they can also be played on a melody instrument. The melodies fit well on flute, violin or recorder, but could also be played by a second fully levered harp. A companion CD is available with all songs played on lever harp and sung by Verlene. Songs include: Awake, Sweet Love; Behold A Wonder Here; Can She Excuse My Wrongs; Come Again; Fine Knacks for Ladies; Flow My Tears; If My Complaints; Now, O Now I Needs Must Part; Shall I Sue; Sleep, Wayward Thoughts; Time Stands Still; White as Lilies Was Her Face. 34 pages |

From Jane Pickering's Lute Book (c. 1616) Arranged by Ellen Tepper Lutenist Jane Pickering was associated with the court of Henry, Prince of Wales. This piece is from her notebook. Arranged in several ways for harps in various combinations: HARP DUET with 2 equally challenging parts; HARP TRIO with harps 1 and 2 in treble clef only, with some lever changes, and harp 3 as a two- handed "accompaniment" part. A score is also included for study or conducting. DUET FOR HARP AND OTHER TREBLE INSTRUMENT (i.e. flute, violin or recorder), for pedal or lever harp. There is a high B-flat that can be tuned ahead or preset with levers if you have them. The parts are of varying difficulty to accommodate the wide range of harp playing and reading abilities. Sylvia Woods has created several arrangements of this beautiful piece in one book: a simple harp solo; advanced harp solo; harp duet; and harp with flute or voice. To accommodate harps as well as vocalists with various ranges, this book includes each of the arrangements in the key of C and also the key of G. The advanced arrangements have two lever or pedal changes. Fingerings and lyrics are included. 32 pages. |
