An exciting new collection of Nordic music, arranged for intermediate to advanced lever or pedal harp by harpist and "riksspelman" (Official master musician of Sweden) Erik Ask-Upmark. The 14 tunes are fairly traditionally arranged, with a lot of focus on left-hand-rhythms, especially in the "polska" dances which make up the majority of the tunes. There is an introduction about Swedish folk music in general and the polska in particular. All the tunes are also given in a "cheat sheet" version with only melody and chords, for those who prefer this rather than complete arrangements (or just other instrumentalists, like flutist and violinists). All in all, this is a very inspiring book that is sure to help making Nordic music ever more popular! Titles: Skomakerspolska, Evighetspolska, Koral från Seglora, Polska after Juringius, Fingersträckarn, Öppningspolskor (I / II), Vallvisa, Valltrall, Skebergslåten, Blekingar (I / II), Allôr e'rô å allôr bir'o, Himlens Polska, Jag minnes dig, Blomgren, Norsk Brudmarsch. 39 pgs. |

Although this prelude is normally played on a keyboard instrument, it transcribes particularly well to a plucked instrument such as the lever harp. Levering directions in the score are notated by diamond-shaped note heads preceded by the approptiate accidental. The last chord of the prelude may be rolled in keeping with performance practice of baroque music. Prelude no. 1 in C major |

A spring tale of Jack W. Franz with music for Celtic harp by Stefanie Bieber Continuation of 'Winterwaldnächte'
In the gray light rain in February, the winter king makes his way to take a walk into the valley, to seek its summer crown, which fell from his head in the snow on the shortest day of the year and rolled down into the valley. He is assisted in his search by the bumblebee Nectarz Sisi, who asks all the spring flowers, where the crown may have gone. Each kind of flower offers itself as hair accessories to replace the missing summer crown.

The tulips spread a exotic, mysterious sound and the elder sighs full of romance and passion. The music pieces accompanying this story are suitable for harp players with some playing experience.
The booklet comes with a CD of all instrumental pieces. They are recorded in two versions: A version in the original tempo, and a slow practice version, where you can hear both hands on separate channels.

Fairy-tale music book for Celtic harp, with CD from Stefanie Bieber on a story by Jack W. Franz. Once upon a time, not far from here, there lived a craftsman could hear the melody of the wood, both the oak and its ancient, regal border dance, as well as the sweeping, leafy Waltz of the maple, or the whispering, monastic chant of walnut tree, the weeping willow with long drooping, watery tears, but the cheerful cherry with her sweet-swinging reel.
A the story about musical instruments that have been neglected or abused by their owners, about their builders and about their experiences.
The song of the maltreated harp - in first loved by a child - is soon placed unnoticed in a corner and out of tune. Many people who "had" to learn a musical instrument will recognize this makes some strict mothers think.
But it all comes to a good end or a hopeful new beginning, the pleasure of making music can emerge anew.
The pieces of music are suitable for harp players with some playing experience. The booklet comes with a CD of all instrumental pieces. They are recorded in two versions: A version in the original tempo, and a slow practice version, where you can hear both hands on separate channels.

This collection includes different level arrangements of international winter and Christmas music that Stefanie has collected and edited for her lessons.
When all pieces are examples for guidance from simple to intermediate level. Moreover, chord symbols added, so with the help of the harmony itself can improvise their own accompaniment.
The first part of the collection contains pieces that are arranged for solo harp .
In a number of pieces in the second part the harp is used as an accompaniment to a voice or a melody instrument. It is also possible to play the melody with the right hand and a left hand bass accompaniment.
The pieces in the third part are suitable for ensemble playing with two or three harps. A part has the melody, and all other parts are in harmony with the melody. Combinations of all parts are possible.
Not all pieces have fingering, because Stefanie has the opinion that it is best to determine your own fingerings.

This book is the fruit of many years' experience of performing & teaching Irish traditional music to harpers by the pioneer & acknowledged leader in the field. It represents the first attempt in print to analyse & explain the aesthetic principles which inform the stylistically correct performance of this music on the harp. Most of these ground-breaking arrangements are of traditional Irish dance music, but also included are two songs and some unusual settings of the music of Turlough O'Carolan. Máire has recorded most of them on her albums 'The New Strung Harp', 'The Living Wood' and 'The Carolan Albums', and best results can be achieved by listening carefully to the recorded versions while following the written music. 38 pages. Lament and Dance dates from the summer of 1977. Written for the Irish harp, and composed in Ireland, the piece was inspired by the magic of that wonderful country, its musicians, its folk traditions, the nostalgia of its melodies, and the vigour and joy of its jigs and reels. Fascinated, on the one hand, by fixed tunings, and on the other by the virtuoso blade-changing techniques of her Irish harpist friends, Ann Griffiths became captivated by the infinite possibilities of the Celtic harp. |
