Dusty Strings FH36S package
The FH36S harp is almost identical to the
FH36H. The difference is in the
shape of the sound box.
The sides and back of the sound box consist of five facets. This design puts a flat facet, rather than a corner, against the player’s shoulder, which some find more comfortable and which makes it easier to reach the lower strings. This sound box shape, as opposed to the rectangular sound box of the FH36H, gives an overall rounder sound, with a slightly fuller bass voice. The FH36S has 36 strings, 5 octaves, reaching from the C (2 octaves below the middle C) to the C, 3 octaves above the middle C. The harp is completely made of solid wood and has an overwhelming sound. For the soundboard solid Honduras mahogany is used in the mid and upper ranges and spruce in the bass, overlaid with book-matched figured hardwood veneer. This unique construction gives the entire harp a better sound. The bass strings as well as the mid and top ranges sound very beautiful. The harp is available in four species of hardwoods: sapele, walnut, maple and bubinga.
The harp will please many advanced players, but is also very interesting for beginning players, who want to buy a great instrument. A firm harp case and tuning wrench are included.
Since January 2008 Dusty Strings gives the option to install Camac levers on her 36-strings harps instead of Loveland levers.
On the 'YouTube' website you can find 2 lovely recordings of the harpist Cheyenne Brown, that give you a good impression of the sound of the FH36. Cheyenne plays on a FH36H walnut.

On the World Harp Congress 2008 in Amsterdam we have made a movie from a spontaneous performance on our stand by Deborah Henson-Conant and the 12-year old Benjamin Creighton Griffiths. Benjamin plays on the FH36S maple and Deborah on the FH36S bubinga.
