HARP DAY

Sunday March 11 2012 at Waregem (B)

This information is available in a PDF document that can be downloaded here.

After a splendid first edition in march 2011, we will again devote a complete day to the Celtic harp with professional harpists from our own country and abroad. Expand your repertory and technique during different workshops, come and listen to great harp concerts and visit different stands with harps, accessories and music scores!

Workshops

Only for some of the workshops scores will be sent to you in advance. During the other workshops you will learn a melody by listening to it in group. You can receive the scores afterwards.

Breton and Scottish music with Tristan Le Govic

This Breton virtuoso already started playing the Celtic harp at his seventh. Meanwhile he became a certified Master in Music with also a pedagogical degree for the Celtic harp. He’s presently living in Scotland. Shortly: he’s got everything to enrich our repertory and techniques! Workshop in English (or French).

10 a.m.: advanced, 13.30 pm: beginners

Irish and medieval music with Dimitri Boekhoorn

With this versatile Dutch harpist from Brittany we discover different harps (Celtic, medieval, …) with various kinds of strings (gut strings, nylon, carbon and metal). Apart from that he’s also a doctor in Celtic studies, so he will season the melodies we’ll learn from him with a lot of cultural background

10 .a.m: beginners, 13.30 p.m.: advanced

Blues & improvising on harp

with Brenda Dor-Groot and Sabine Meijers

These enthusiastic ladies from Netherlands started the International Jazz Harp Foundation. Playing along with them we absorb some basic knowledge about rhythm, scales and harmonies and after an hour we already manage to play a blues together. You get tips & tricks for a magnificent solo. How do you make your improvisation coherent interesting and cool? Simple handouts and handy tricks. This workshop is very suitable for Lever harp but pedal harpists are of course also very welcome. 10.00 for beginners and advanced but without jazz experience and 13h30 for everyone who followed part 1 and for those with more jazz experience. www.jazzharp.org

Ensemble with Lakshmi

Do we still need to present this talented Flemish harpist with the golden voice? In this workshop we get into a wondrously beautiful melody and you will receive a score beforehand which will be in accordance with your playing experience. During this workshop different parts will be brought together into an harmonic whole. More than 12 participants per workshop possible!
